The treatment of organyl-bis(diisopropylamino)boranes by dry HCl in the presence of an azide leads to the secondary amine, thus demonstrating the potential of these boranes as stable, easily prepared and handled precursors for organyldichloroboranes. It is also shown that the reaction of dicyclohexylchloroborane with two equivalents of benzyl azide in the presence of an excess of HCl allows the use of both alkyl groups of the starting borane.
